Blackshear Departs Mysten Labs for AI Firm Anthropic

Share

Sam Blackshear, the developer of Move and co-founder of Mysten Labs, has announced his departure from the company as CTO. He will join Anthropic to focus on defensive security research.

Blackshear explained that he was motivated by a desire to explore new problem areas while actively developing technologies. 'The balance of power between attackers and defenders is shifting, and I'm strongly driven to contribute to the field of security,' he said.

Mysten Labs is behind the layer 1 blockchain Sui, and Blackshear developed Move as part of Facebook's Libra project. However, he will continue to advise Mysten Labs and consult on the development of Sui's ecosystem.
