Blast Layer-2 Project Shuts Down Amid Unsustainable Economic Conditions
Blast, a popular layer-2 project in the Ethereum ecosystem, has announced that it will cease operations due to unsustainable economic conditions. The project team stated that the network's maintenance and operating costs exceeded its revenue, making it impossible to continue.
Users are being asked to migrate their on-chain assets and PWA balances from Blast to the Ethereum mainnet. The withdrawal waittime, which normally takes longer, has been reduced to 24 hours as part of the closure process. However, withdrawals are currently unavailable while the team completes the withdrawal of Lido assets held on Blast, a process expected to last around one week.
The Blast user interface will remain open until October 26th. After this date, assets will still be accessible, but withdrawals will only be possible through direct interaction with the Blast Bridge contract on Ethereum. The team has promised to release the necessary technical instructions before the deadline.
