Block Joins Forces to Bring Lightning Network to AI Agent Payments

Block has partnered with the x402 Foundation to integrate Bitcoin's Lightning Network into AI agent payments. The x402 payment standard embeds transactions directly into HTTP, enabling AI agents to autonomously pay for goods and services.

The partnership aims to facilitate billions of instant microtransactions in the growing agent economy. According to Block, the Lightning Network is well-suited for this purpose due to its ability to handle low-cost transactions at high speeds.
