Summer Mersinger, former US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) commissioner and Blockchain Association CEO, will step down on October 16. She'll leave her role at the end of the year, after leading the advocacy group since June 2025.

Mersinger's departure comes amid a setback for one of the organization's key legislative priorities in Congress, according to the Blockchain Association. Kristin Smith, former CEO and current president of the Solana Policy Institute, will take over as interim CEO on October 16.

The group cited progress on stablecoin policy, including work related to the GENIUS Act, under Mersinger's leadership. However, it did not mention a separate Senate measure, the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, which failed to advance earlier this month.
