Blockstream has expanded its services with the launch of a new consulting business aimed at financial institutions. The company also opened an office in Lugano, Switzerland, to better serve clients across Europe. The consulting arm will help banks, asset managers, and other institutions evaluate, design, and implement Bitcoin-based financial infrastructure. Services include tokenized asset issuance, confidential settlement, and related technical solutions.
The Lugano office will act as a hub for Blockstream’s European operations, supporting client relationships and partnerships in key financial centers like Zurich, Geneva, and Zug. Peter Bain, Blockstream’s chief marketing officer, highlighted Switzerland’s strong banking tradition and supportive regulatory framework for digital assets as key reasons for the expansion.
Blockstream’s consulting services draw on the company’s extensive experience in Bitcoin cryptography, protocol engineering, and financial technology. Adam Back, Blockstream’s co-founder and CEO, emphasized the importance of integrating Bitcoin into existing financial systems. The move is part of Blockstream’s long-term strategy to support institutional Bitcoin adoption in key markets.
Switzerland has emerged as a center for digital asset firms, with Zug’s “Crypto Valley” and a regulatory environment that allows banks to hold and trade Bitcoin on behalf of clients. While no pricing details or client names were disclosed, Blockstream confirmed that the Lugano office is open and consulting services are available to institutions across Europe.
