BNB Chain Launches New Layer-1 Blockchain for High-Frequency Trading
BNB Chain is building a new layer-1 blockchain to cater to high-frequency trading and artificial intelligence agents, aiming for a mainnet launch in early 2027. The chain will run alongside BNB Smart Chain (BSC), opBNB, and Greenfield, with the latter serving as the settlement hub.
The most distinctive feature of this new chain is its removal of the public mempool, which BNB Chain says makes sandwich attacks impractical due to finalized trade ordering. The team claims that TxStream, a system routing transactions directly to block leaders, reduces front-running risks.
David Z, chief technology officer at BNB Chain, acknowledged that removing the public mempool raises concerns about potential censorship by block leaders, which rotate every 200 milliseconds. However, he noted that validators' stakes and reputations are at risk due to sub-50-millisecond preconfirmation commitments.
