BOE Unwinds £368 Billion of Gilts, Testing Global Rates

The Bank of England (BOE) has announced plans to unwind £368 billion of gilts held for monetary-policy purposes by September 2034.

This move combines £20 billion in annual sales with maturing bonds, averaging £46 billion of runoff.

Gilt yields fell as active auctions paused, yet the Bank's full portfolio unwind keeps a slow-burn rates risk alive.

The BOE's decision creates a long-run test: whether predictable central-bank withdrawal adds enough pressure to global yields and risk appetite to reach Bitcoin.
