Brandt vs Aljarrah: XRP's Use Case and Growth Spark Heated Debate
Veteran trader Peter Brandt has labeled XRP a 'fool coin', sparking a heated debate in the crypto community. Brandt questioned XRP's use case, arguing that a transactional use case does not automatically make it worth more. He also expressed skepticism about XRP's supply picture, stating that it is still unclear.
Brandt's views were countered by Versan Aljarrah, founder of Black Swan Capitalist, who said that a price target is a trade, not a thesis. Aljarrah pointed out that Brandt's $5.40 call is a prediction of where the price could go, not why XRP matters. He also criticized Brandt's labeling of XRP as a 'fool coin', calling it an opinion rather than analysis.
Aljarrah highlighted three developments that he believes demonstrate the growth and adoption of XRP: legal clarity, institutional build-out, and regulated products. He noted that a US court has ruled that programmatic sales of XRP are not securities, and that Ripple has made acquisitions and launched its regulated stablecoin, RLUSD. He also pointed out that investment products tied to XRP now exist, giving institutions exposure through channels they already use.
