Bridge Hacks Haunt Crypto Security: $292M Stolen Through Kelp DAO
KuCoin recently highlighted a significant security breach that occurred five months ago through a bridge called Kelp DAO. The attacker successfully forged a LayerZero message, minted 116,500 rsETH without any backing, and then used it as collateral on Aave.
The stolen funds totaled $292 million, which had a substantial impact on the platform's TVL (total value locked). A staggering $6 billion was removed from Aave as a result of this breach. Nine platforms were forced to freeze their activities in response.
This incident is not an isolated case, as bridges have become a major vulnerability in cryptocurrency security. In fact, according to the source, bridges accounted for nearly half of all stolen funds in Q2 2026. To mitigate this risk, CNPY Network has launched a new architecture that removes the seam between chains, thereby eliminating a concrete attack surface.
