Cardano Breakout Setup Takes Shape After Nine Years of Price Compression
Cardano's ADA has spent nearly nine years trapped in a broad cycle of price compression. Market commentator Van Tassel recently highlighted a long-term chart showing ADA repeatedly bouncing along a rising macro support line, except for the extreme dislocation during the COVID-19 crash.
However, above that support, ADA faced a stubborn ceiling created by a descending trendline drawn from the token's 2021 peak. This wedge-like compression pattern has been steadily closing in on itself, with ADA currently hovering around $0.25.
Van Tassel divides the pattern into four major chapters: explosive expansion (2018-2021), relentless compression (2021-2026), a failed breakout above resistance in 2025, and a test of that same ceiling again in 2026.
The pundit sees the current setup as significant but is not calling victory yet. He's looking for confirmation through a weekly close above resistance followed by a successful retest. If the former ceiling turns into a new floor, it would provide stronger evidence that ADA has finally escaped its long-running compression pattern.
