TapTools, a firm that provides analytics for the Cardano blockchain, has withdrawn its plans to sell non-fungible tokens (NFTs) after facing backlash from the community. The team had announced on September 2 that it was returning to operation and would hold an NFT sale of 777 pieces at 777 ADA each.

However, users reacted angrily to this decision, with many calling it 'dumb and extractive' or even a scam. The TapTools team later acknowledged the issue, saying they had 'misread the moment, the sentiment, and how it would be received.'

Charles Hoskinson, co-founder of Cardano, responded by sharing a South Park clip parodying BP's repeated apologies after the Gulf oil spill.
