Cardano Surges Past Bitcoin and XRP as RealFi Launch Drives Adoption
Cardano's ADA token has seen a significant surge in price over the past few days, outperforming major cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and XRP. According to data from Koyfin, ADA has risen by over 74% from its July low of $0.1554, reaching a price of around $0.27 at the time of writing.
This marks ADA's highest level in three months, with the token experiencing a 46% gain since early July. In comparison, Bitcoin has only seen a 37% increase over the same period, while XRP has gained around 33%. Solana, however, has outperformed Cardano, with a 49% increase in price.
The surge in ADA's price can be attributed to several factors, including the recent launch of RealFi on Cardano's mainnet. RealFi introduced USDrf and the staked sUSDrf, which are designed to provide a stable and efficient means of conducting transactions. The protocol has been framed as a more capital-preserving option compared to other stablecoins, which often leave capital sitting still.
Cardano's decentralized finance (DeFi) applications have also seen a significant increase in total value locked (TVL), rising by 8.72% over 24 hours to $70.78 million, according to DefiLlama. This growth in DeFi adoption has likely contributed to the surge in ADA's price.
Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Cardano, has invested several million dollars in RealFi, further validating the protocol's potential. As a result, ADA has become the top-trending ticker among cryptocurrencies on Stocktwits, with retail sentiment shifting from bearish to bullish.
