Strategy Boosts Bitcoin Holdings to 848,000 BTC with $20.9B Q3 Gain
Michael Saylor's company, Strategy (MSTR), has expanded its Bitcoin holdings to 848,000 BTC following a recent purchase of 344 BTC for $28.7 million. The average price per Bitcoin in this transaction was $85,839. This acquisition was partly funded by selling 92,894 MSTR shares, raising approximately $15.7 million.
As of September 30, the carrying value of Strategy's Bitcoin holdings reached $70.82 billion, while the total cost of these holdings stands at $63.97 billion. The company also reported an estimated $20.91 billion gain on digital assets for the third quarter of 2026.
In other financial activities, Strategy allocated $154.1 million to repurchase its preferred stock and used $142.5 million from its USD Reserve to cover dividends and interest on outstanding debt. The company holds $4.88 billion in its USD Reserve and $833.4 million in USD Cash as of Monday.
Despite these gains, both MSTR stock and Bitcoin prices remain below their levels from a year ago. MSTR stock has gained 3% year-to-date but has fallen over 50% in the last 12 months. Bitcoin's price has decreased around 2% year-to-date and is down 30% over the same period.
