Cardano's ADA Rallies 6 Percent Despite Plummeting DEX Volume
Cardano's native token, ADA, has surged by 6.29% to $0.2597, making it the top performer among the top 25 cryptocurrencies. Despite this price rally, trading volume on Cardano's decentralized exchanges (DEXs) has halved since October 1, dropping from $11.74 million to $5.72 million. This discrepancy suggests that the price increase is not driven by increased on-chain activity.
The trading volume on Cardano's DEXs has been volatile, peaking at $11.74 million on October 1 before declining over the next three days. SundaeSwap alone accounted for 40% of the volume on October 3, highlighting its dominance. Meanwhile, the total capital deposited on Cardano has been rising, indicating that more funds are available for trading but are not being actively traded.
The ADA price has been range-bound between $0.2425 and $0.2679 over the past 24 hours. Over the past month, ADA has gained 23.68%, but it remains 91.59% below its all-time high of $3.09. The bulk of ADA trading occurs on centralized exchanges, with only a small fraction happening on Cardano's DEXs.
Two key developments have been cited as potential reasons for ADA's recent strength. The first is the integration of Cardano into the x402 payment standard, which allows for machine-to-machine payments using ADA. The second is the rollout of SundaeSwap V4, which introduces concentrated liquidity features aimed at improving efficiency for liquidity providers.
