Cardano's ADA Surges to Five-Month High on Scalability Tease
Cardano's native cryptocurrency, ADA, surged by 12% to reach $0.27, marking its highest price in five months. This rally occurred independently of broader market movements, as Bitcoin and Ethereum saw little change. The price jump began with the launch of a decentralized finance (DeFi) platform and gained momentum following a public statement from Charles Hoskinson, the project's founder.
Hoskinson shared a 15-minute ADA/USDT chart showing a price increase from $0.244 to $0.264, accompanied by the hashtag #LeiosIsComing. This teaser shifted market focus to the network's upcoming scalability upgrade, Linear Leios (CIP-164). The technology aims to significantly boost the blockchain's throughput while maintaining security through the existing Ouroboros Praos chain.
The initial price boost was driven by the October 1 mainnet launch of RealFi, a platform for tokenizing real-world assets (RWA), and the integration of the USDr stablecoin into various Cardano platforms. This created a bullish technical signal known as a Golden Cross, where the 50-day moving average crossed above the 200-day moving average. However, the rally's sustainability is questionable due to low trading volumes on Cardano's decentralized exchanges and the delayed integration of Leios, scheduled for late 2026.
Despite short liquidations near $0.264, the rally is largely narrative-driven. The next price resistance level is identified at $0.28. The upcoming Dijkstra hard fork will require stake pool operators to manually register their keys, with gradual increases in network throughput through system parameters.
