Cardano's ADA Token Surges as it Joins Agent Payments Arena
Cardano's ADA token has surged by about 4% over the past 24 hours, reaching its highest level in four months. This increase comes as a result of Cardano stepping into the agent payments arena through the x402 payment standard.
The integration allows apps and AI agents to pay for web services using ADA, which is now included in the official x402 toolkit. However, it's worth noting that mainnet support is not yet live, and the facilitator has only processed a real transaction on Cardano's pre-production network.
Cardano is joining a crowded field, with rival blockchains such as XRP Ledger already processing millions of x402 payments. The standard was developed by Coinbase in 2025 and handed over to a foundation under Linux Foundation stewardship in April, backed by Visa, Mastercard, Google, and Amazon Web Services.
