Cardano’s Progress Clashes with ADA’s Market Struggles
Cardano is experiencing a year of significant development, yet its native token, ADA, continues to underperform in the market. Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Input Output Global, has grown frustrated with ongoing criticism, asking critics, "What the hell else can I do?" despite the network's progress.
Hoskinson defended Cardano's achievements, highlighting projects like Midnight, RealFi, and new ecosystem integrations. He argued that Midnight's launch as a separate network should not be seen as a threat to ADA holders, emphasizing that the NIGHT token was issued through Cardano. Despite this, some community members criticized the network's liquidity, stablecoin activity, and DEX volume, comparing Hoskinson to a "used car salesman."
In response, Hoskinson pointed to several ongoing projects, including RealFi's mainnet launch in October 2026, Midnight's network launch in March 2026, and the introduction of Midnight.city in open beta. He also mentioned the Pentad infrastructure push, which brought integrations like LayerZero, Fireblocks, Pyth, and Circle to Cardano. Additionally, he highlighted the Bitcoin-focused DeFi initiative Pogun, despite its failed treasury request.
On-chain data from DeFiLlama shows that Cardano has approximately $70.78 million locked in its DeFi ecosystem and $67.2 million in stablecoin liquidity. DEX volume has seen a 139% jump over seven days, with around $4.36 million in volume over the past 24 hours. However, ADA remains significantly below its all-time high, trading at about $0.273 with a $10.2 billion market capitalization, highlighting the gap between development progress and market performance.
