Cardano's YouTube Channel Hijacked in Sophisticated Scam

Cardano's official YouTube channel was hijacked by scammers who used it to broadcast an AI-generated video of founder Charles Hoskinson promoting a fake cryptocurrency giveaway. The video, which appeared to be a legitimate livestream for Project Catalyst, Cardano's community-driven innovation fund and governance program, encouraged viewers to transfer digital assets to a specified address with the promise that they could double their holdings of ADA.

The breach was confined to IOG's YouTube account and the fraudulent material distributed through its audience and recognizable branding. IOG issued an urgent warning, telling users to steer clear of the channel until the company regains control. The Cardano blockchain itself was not compromised, and no evidence suggests attackers gained access to users' wallets.

Hoskinson took to X to alert his followers about the breach, urging them not to trust any videos or click on links on the compromised account. IOG's own security notice advised users against clicking links, sending funds, or sharing personal information in response to any content on the platform.
