Chainlink has announced a significant partnership with Bottomline, a top-three Swift service provider that handles over $16 trillion in payments annually. The collaboration brings Chainlink's technology to Bottomline's Global Pay Connect platform, which enables 600+ banks to connect to blockchain-based payment infrastructure without requiring them to rebuild their existing systems.

The integration of Chainlink's interoperability and orchestration infrastructure extends the capabilities of Bottomline's platform. CCIP connects Bottomline's payments infrastructure to blockchain networks through a single, network-agnostic integration model, while CRE coordinates payment workflows across onchain and offchain systems.

This partnership is notable because it provides financial institutions with direct access to onchain payment rails via the Swift network and payment messaging standards they already use. This means they don't need to replatform or create bespoke integrations for every blockchain network.
