IBM's blockchain patent portfolio has been acquired by Circle, a USDC issuer. The deal covers more than 680 patent families and nearly 1,000 issued patents. This is according to an announcement made by Circle on July 27.

The acquisition aims to bolster Circle's position in the deep blockchain space, which IBM has been actively developing.
