Circle Stock Jumps 13% as Bitcoin Surges Past $80k
Circle Internet Group's stock surged on Thursday after Bitcoin broke above $80,000. This rally in Bitcoin sparked increased trading activity across major exchanges and boosted demand for Circle's USDC stablecoin.
As a result of this higher demand, Circle creates new coins to meet the need, putting the dollars behind them into U.S. government bonds and bank accounts. The company collects interest income from these reserves, which contributes to its bottom line.
Circle is set to launch its Arc mainnet on September 16, a proprietary blockchain designed to scale institutional asset tokenization and cross-border payments. This marks a strategic pivot for the company, moving from issuing stablecoins to owning the financial rails where those assets settle.
