Citi Expands Blockchain Payment Network to Japan and UAE

Share

Citi has expanded its blockchain-based payment network to Japan and the UAE, bringing its services to seven markets total.

The platform, known as Citi Token Services, allows institutional clients to move tokenized bank deposits across Citi's network 24/7, processing billions of dollars in transactions.

Citi's strategy is to connect tokenized deposits, stablecoins, and public blockchains rather than betting on a single rail, making it a competitor to both traditional banks and crypto payment networks.
