CLARITY Act Clears Final Hurdle: September 15 Vote Confirmed
The CLARITY Act is set for a Senate cloture vote on September 15 at 2 p.m., according to Senator Cynthia Lummis. The Wyoming Blockchain Symposium, where Lummis made the announcement, drew around 500 participants, including policymakers and institutional investors.
Lummis described how the scheduling came together, saying she 'had a fit and fell in it' and that Senate Majority Leader John Thune was kind enough to schedule the bill for September 15th at 2 p.m. Lummis emphasized the importance of having a specific time, not just a date.
The CLARITY Act is a crypto market structure legislation bill that cleared the House with strong bipartisan support. It requires 60 votes to advance past the cloture threshold in the Senate. Senator Bernie Moreno has confirmed that all 53 Senate Republicans are committed to voting yes, leaving a 7-vote gap that must come from Democrats.
