CLARITY Act Vote Delayed Until September Amid Ongoing Negotiations
The US Senate's vote on the CLARITY Act has been delayed until September. The delay comes despite ongoing efforts from both parties to resolve key issues, particularly around ethics language.
According to Senator Thom Tillis, the White House is currently engaged in negotiations with lawmakers over the bipartisan ethics text sent last week. This development has brought optimism that remaining discrepancies can be addressed, paving the way for a Senate vote on the crypto market structure bill.
Senator Cynthia Lummis expects the Senate to delay its August recess until it can pass the CLARITY Act. She emphasized the efforts put in by Republicans, who have negotiated with Democrats for 11 months and added over 300 pages to the bill at their request.
