Cloudflare Unveils Programmable Wallets for AI Agents
Cloudflare has introduced Cloudflare Wallets, a programmable wallet designed specifically for artificial intelligence (AI) agents. The wallets are intended to simplify the process of AI agents identifying themselves and paying for application programming interfaces (APIs) and digital content through stablecoin micropayments.
According to Cloudflare, the product aims to enable what it calls 'agentic commerce,' which would allow AI agents to test new options with minimal friction. Users can claim a Cloudflare Wallet handle immediately, while payment features will roll out later.
The company plans to integrate the wallets with its Monetization Gateway, which uses Coinbase's x402 protocol to enable stablecoin micropayments. This will make it simple for AI agents to try an API without an account, allowing them to test new options with little friction, said Cloudflare software engineer Will Papper.
