Coinbase Adds 15-Minute and Hourly Crypto Price Markets

Coinbase has expanded its prediction markets by introducing short-dated up-or-down contracts on bitcoin, ether, and eight other tokens. The new contracts, which include 15-minute and hourly timeframes, were launched on Tuesday. These contracts allow traders to speculate on whether the price of a cryptocurrency will rise or fall within a very short window.

The contracts are listed on Kalshi, a platform that already operates similar 15-minute markets on its own exchange. By adding these short-dated options, Coinbase is providing traders with more granular trading opportunities, catering to those who prefer high-frequency trading strategies.

The move reflects a broader trend in the crypto markets toward offering more flexible and shorter-duration financial products. These contracts could appeal to traders looking to capitalize on volatility or hedge against rapid price movements.
