Coinbase Brings Regulated Crypto Derivatives to Canada

Coinbase has launched regulated crypto derivatives for eligible Canadian traders through its CFTC-registered futures arm, Coinbase Financial Markets.

The platform now offers 23 perpetual and dated crypto futures, five commodity contracts covering gold, silver, and oil, as well as COIN50 index futures to clients in Canada.

SHIB is among the contracts available for leverage trading, which can go up to 10x. Eligible investors must meet a $5 million net-financial-assets bar, limiting access.

This move marks a first for regulated crypto exchanges in Canada and allows traders who want leverage to do so onshore, rather than offshore.
