Coinbase Files for US Stock Perpetual Futures as Shares Spike
Coinbase's stock price surged 10.14% to $192.70 following its filing for U.S. stock perpetual futures.
The exchange has submitted two notice registrations with the SEC, covering separate roles within its proposed derivatives structure: Coinbase Derivatives and Coinbase Financial Markets.
Coinbase Chief Policy Officer Faryar Shirzad said the filings represent the first regulatory step toward bringing equity perpetuals onshore.
Coinbase already offers stock perpetual futures to eligible customers outside the United States through its international platform, which includes contracts tied to Apple, Microsoft, Alphabet, and other major tech stocks.
