Coinbase Halts Sports Betting in Michigan Amid Ongoing Lawsuits

Share

Coinbase Global Inc., a leading crypto exchange, has announced that it will stop offering sports wagering in Michigan due to ongoing lawsuits. According to a court filing on September 21, 2026, the company will cease providing so-called 'sports event contracts' through its partnership with Kalshi Inc. by October 10.

The move comes as part of an agreement between Coinbase and state officials in Michigan. The deal stipulates that Coinbase must abide by certain conditions while a federal judge reviews the lawsuit.

Michigan officials have agreed to hold off on regulatory action against Coinbase for now, provided the company complies with the terms of the agreement. This is not the first time Coinbase has faced regulatory challenges in Michigan; it and other companies have been seeking to prevent state-level regulation.
