Coinbase Launches Prediction Market for Weather Event

Share

Coinbase has introduced a prediction market that allows users to trade contracts on future events. The first event listed is 'Highest temperature in Newark on Sep 20, 2026?'

The contract will close and expire when the outcome occurs or by Sep 21, 2026, 5:00 AM GMT+0.

Users can buy 'Yes' contracts if they think the highest temperature will occur, and 'No' contracts if they do not believe it will. The price of each contract reflects the market's odds, with $0.65 meaning a 65% chance.

The payout for correct contracts is $1 per contract, minus what was paid (minus fees). Fees vary by market and are shown in the trade preview before placing an order.
