Coinbase Offers IPO Access to US Retail Traders Amid Diversification Push
Coinbase has opened up IPO access to US retail traders, offering a new channel for investors to participate in primary-market allocations. This move comes as Coinbase's core transaction business faces pressure, with Q2 2026 revenue down 18.50 percent year over year at $1.22 billion and a net loss of $359.47 million.
The IPO initiative is part of Coinbase's strategy to diversify its services beyond crypto trading. According to Equibles, subscription revenue represented 48.00 percent of net revenue in Q2 2026, while prediction-market revenue more than doubled quarter over quarter. This indicates that new services are becoming increasingly relevant as transaction revenue remains tied to crypto activity.
Coinbase's stock price remains 52.91 percent below its $402.16 52-week high, with a market capitalization of $49.9 billion as of October 1, 2026. The company's primary-market reference price was $189.29 on the same date.
