Coinbase Prediction Market for Zheng vs Gomez Expires
Coinbase’s prediction markets have introduced a new contract centered around the outcome of the Zheng vs Gomez event. The market, which expired on October 5, 2026, saw significant interest with a total trading volume of $2.2 million and $832,903.62 in interest. Participants could trade contracts predicting the event’s outcome, with each contract paying $1 if the predicted event occurred and $0 if it did not. The price of the contracts reflected the market’s odds, allowing traders to bet on the likelihood of the event’s outcome.
The market was governed by strict trading prohibitions to ensure fairness. Current players, coaches, staff, paid employees, owners, and their household members were barred from trading. Additionally, individuals with material, non-public information or those employed by Source Agencies were prohibited from participating. These rules aimed to prevent insider trading and maintain the integrity of the market.
Traders needed a Coinbase account and had to complete onboarding with Coinbase Financial Markets (CFM), which included identity verification and income/net worth details. Once approved, traders could use cash from their main Coinbase account to trade. Settlement of contracts was based on an independent, regulated exchange determining the result using a stated “source of truth,” such as official data or trusted news.
Trading was available 24/7, except during a weekly maintenance window from Thursday 3:00-5:00 am ET. Fees varied by market and were displayed in the trade preview before placing an order. The market highlighted Coinbase’s expansion into regulated prediction markets, offering contracts on various outcomes in crypto, economics, politics, sports, entertainment, technology, and science.
