Coinbase Unlocks IPO Allocations for US Customers
Coinbase has expanded its services to allow eligible US retail customers to access IPO allocations directly through its app. The platform is starting with Oura's debut this week, and customers can request shares at the IPO offer price before trading begins.
The allocation process will be based on demand, with potential for full, partial, or no shares being allocated. This move marks another step in Coinbase's growth strategy, as it aims to provide its users with early exposure to high-growth companies.
Coinbase had previously launched pre-IPO derivatives, starting with SpaceX in June, which gave eligible non-US users synthetic exposure to private companies before they went public. Today's product is a securities offering through Coinbase Capital Markets, with Apex providing execution, clearing, and custody.
