CoinEx Halts Operations Amid Downturn and Regulatory Pressures
CoinEx, a cryptocurrency exchange that has been in operation since December 2017, announced on September 15, 2026, that it will wind down its services. The exchange cited prolonged market downturns, shrinking trading volumes, and rising regulatory compliance costs as the main reasons for this decision.
CoinEx currently ranks as the 33rd largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume, with around $58 million in 24-hour trading volume at the time of the announcement. This is significantly lower than its leading Asia-based rivals.
The company will halt new user registrations and switch futures positions to reduce-only status immediately. Non-spot services, including margin trading, staking, and lending, will end on September 22. Spot trading will stop on September 29, and the platform will officially shut down on December 22.
