CoinEx Shuts Down Amid Market Downturn and Regulatory Pressures
CoinEx, a cryptocurrency exchange founded in December 2017, has announced its shutdown after nine years of operation. The platform cited prolonged market downturn, shrinking trading volume, and tougher regulations as reasons for its decision to close down.
The wind-down process began on September 15, 2026, with registrations and rewards closed off. The futures market switched to 'Reduce Only Mode', allowing users to close existing positions but not open new ones. Fiat, Margin, Loan, Earn, Staking, and Strategic trading features stopped accepting new requests.
CoinEx is urging users to withdraw their funds before the deadlines. Spot trading stays active until September 29, after which it will stop, and any unexecuted orders will be canceled. The company plans to pull liquidity and send assets back to users' spot accounts.
The CoinEx Smart Chain (CSC) and OneSwap close down on September 29. Users have until December 22, 2026, to get their funds out. After that date, any unclaimed USDT will go into independent custody, with CoinEx charging custody fees calculated monthly at 5% of the users' asset balance.
