Coldcard Hack Sparks Self-Custody Security Overhaul
Coldcard, a hardware wallet provider, has recently suffered a security breach. According to Cory Klippsten, founder of SwipeHUB and Coldcard user, the incident highlights the importance of self-custody in cryptocurrency management.
Klippsten stated that he was hacked through his phone number, which was linked to his email address associated with his Coldcard wallet. The hacker gained access to his funds but fortunately did not drain them.
The breach has prompted Klippsten to emphasize the need for users to take responsibility for their own security measures in managing their cryptocurrencies. He noted that even reputable companies like Coldcard can be vulnerable to hacking, and that users must be proactive in protecting their assets.
