Crypto Adoption Defies Poverty Expectations
The recent poverty report from the Census Bureau in the United States revealed a record median income of $87,460 for 2025, with a declining official poverty rate at 10.2%. However, this does not align with the crypto adoption trend. The US ranks second globally in crypto adoption, according to the Chainalysis Global Crypto Adoption Index 2025.
In stark contrast to expectations that poverty would drive crypto adoption, countries with high poverty rates do not necessarily rank high in crypto usage. India tops the list for the second consecutive year, followed by the US and then Pakistan, Vietnam, Brazil, Nigeria, Indonesia, Ukraine, the Philippines, and Russia.
The paradox is further highlighted when looking at France, where 15.4% of the population lives below the poverty line, yet crypto adoption remains low at 11%. This challenges the notion that wealth and poverty directly correlate with crypto adoption.
