Crypto and Precious Metals May Suit 24/7 Trading in U.S. Derivatives Markets
CFTC Chairman Michael Selig believes that cryptocurrencies and precious metals may be suitable for 24/7 trading in U.S. derivatives markets.
In a recent speech, Selig stated that these assets 'may currently be suitable' for non-stop trading, which has been a topic of discussion among regulators and market operators.
The CFTC has already opened a public comment window on 24/7 energy futures and perpetual contracts linked to physical commodities such as crude oil. These contracts are expected to undergo review on an asset-by-asset basis.
Selig warned that not all products will be suitable for 24/7 trading, citing agricultural products, energy, and certain financial contracts as examples.
