Crypto Clarity Act Sees Last-Minute Negotiations Amid Renewed Optimism
The long-awaited Crypto Clarity Act has seen a glimmer of hope as Republican and Democratic staff rush to negotiate its final details before Congress begins its August recess.
A series of last-minute meetings were held on Wednesday, with lawmakers from both parties trying to iron out the remaining sticking points in the bill. According to Punchbowl News, congressional staff have spent the past 24 hours working to resolve these issues.
The renewed optimism follows Senate Majority Leader John Thune's decision not to file cloture on the Clarity Act on Wednesday afternoon. This gave negotiators several additional hours to continue discussions and potentially bridge differences that have prevented the legislation from advancing.
Sen. Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.) remains confident that the Senate will vote on the Crypto Clarity Act before lawmakers leave for recess. She believes that nearly a year of bipartisan negotiations has left little reason for further delays, particularly given her expectation that other bills need to be voted on.
