Crypto Community Abuzz Over Death of Hack VC Whistleblower-Designate
A 37-year-old North Las Vegas woman's death has sparked interest in the crypto and tech communities online.
Hsin-Ju Chuang was found dead in a vehicle on Interstate 15, just east of Barstow, about 150 miles from her home. Initial reports received little attention until it was revealed that she died two days before planning to release information regarding misconduct at Hack VC, where she was previously a partner.
The website CoinDesk.com reported that Chuang posted on X saying she'd rather take $0 than accept a settlement requiring her to stay silent about what happened. She alleged being required to work through a serious medical emergency, facing threats and intimidation when seeking to leave, and problems with health-insurance coverage.
Hack VC co-founder Alexander Pack described Chuang's death as an 'unimaginable tragedy' for those who worked with her, adding that the company had not spoken to her directly in over 10 months. An autopsy ruled Chuang's death a suicide.
