Swift, Wells Fargo Join Linux Foundation's Decentralized Trust Expansion
The Linux Foundation's open-source organization for blockchain and decentralized technologies, LF Decentralized Trust, has expanded its membership by 15 new organizations. Among them are two major financial institutions: Swift and Wells Fargo. The two companies have joined as general members, while Ethereum Institutional, EUROPEUM, and Fenasbac have become associate members.
Swift's Head of Strategy, Jonathan Ehrenfeld, stated that joining LF Decentralized Trust provides another important forum for the company. Similarly, Chintan Mehta, Wells Fargo CIO and Head of Digital Technology & Innovation, emphasized that interoperability, trust, and collaboration will be crucial in the future of financial services.
The membership expansion comes as financial institutions explore tokenized assets, stablecoins, and central bank digital currencies. LF Decentralized Trust has also unveiled CLPR (Clipper), a Hedera-contributed lab where the Hashgraph team is developing messaging between ledgers without bridges. Panurus, a platform-neutral token infrastructure project, has been launched as an incubating LF Decentralized Trust project.
LF Decentralized Trust will host an invite-only technical workshop in New York City on October 22-23, 2026. The workshop will focus on the development of decentralized technologies and their applications in financial services.
