Crypto Exchange Volumes Surge to $37 Billion Amid Market Rebound
Crypto exchange volumes have rebounded sharply over the past five days, more than doubling to reach $37 billion in trading activity. This significant surge marks a recovery from the yearly low and is a notable improvement from the recent downturn.
The rise in volume can be attributed to various factors, including the growth of crypto ETFs and digital asset treasuries, which are allowing for more derivatives and optionality while plugging directly into existing TradFi rails and infrastructure. However, this shift may pose a headwind to CEX volumes as investors increasingly opt for these new instruments.
Additionally, the altcoin market has seen significant growth, with the total crypto market cap excluding BTC and ETH rising by around 13% last week. The sharp price moves of Bitcoin and Ethereum, which gained over 23% and 30%, respectively, have also contributed to this increase in trading activity.
