Crypto Exchanges Build Multi-Asset Platforms with Tokenized Stocks
Crypto exchanges are expanding beyond their traditional role as single-asset trading platforms to become all-in-one exchanges, integrating spot, derivatives, tokenized assets, and on-chain infrastructure. Leading exchanges such as Kraken and Binance are developing complete technology stacks that bridge native crypto markets with traditional financial markets.
Kraken's parent company Payward is building a comprehensive tokenized stock system using its xStocks product, Ink Ethereum Layer 2 network, and compliant on-chain derivatives plans. Its partnership with Nasdaq's venture capital arm will help advance tokenized stock infrastructure. Meanwhile, Binance has launched bStocks, which have already reached $500 million in assets under management within seven weeks.
The growth of tokenized stock trading volume has been significant, driven by the entry of exchanges such as Binance and Hyperliquid into this space. Exchanges are diversifying their revenue sources and reducing reliance on pure cryptocurrency trading, which is expected to reduce cyclicality and form a more robust growth engine.
