Crypto Exchanges Surpass $393 Billion in Traditional Finance Trading
The global market for trading traditional financial assets on centralized crypto exchanges has grown exponentially in the past year and a half. According to a report by MEXC, a leading cryptocurrency exchange, and CoinGecko, this segment of the market has surged over 100-fold since January 2025, reaching $393.15 billion in June 2026.
The growth was driven primarily by perpetual futures, which accounted for approximately 98.5% of total activity in June, with a volume of $387.39 billion. Spot trading made up only $5.75 billion in the same month. U.S. stocks overtook precious metals as the largest asset category in June, with a monthly volume of $189.84 billion and a market share of 48.3%.
The report also found that user migration is taking place from traditional financial institutions to crypto exchanges. Among crypto-native users, 61.9% have already traded traditional assets on a CEX, while 74.2% of TradFi-experienced users have transferred some or all of their activity onto these platforms.
MEXC's CEO, Vugar, noted that 'traditional assets are becoming a core part of how users engage with crypto exchanges.' The platform has expanded its TradFi offering in response to changing user demand, and plans to continue broadening asset coverage and developing deeper liquidity.
