Crypto Group Backs 32 Lawmakers Ahead of U.S. Elections
Fairshake, a crypto-friendly political action committee, has revealed plans to support 32 lawmakers from both the Democratic and Republican parties ahead of the November U.S. elections. The group will allocate $1 million each for six key candidates, totaling $6 million in spending. This financial backing will fund independent ad campaigns rather than direct contributions to the candidates' campaigns.
The supported candidates include influential figures in crypto legislation. Republicans French Hill, Bill Huizenga, and Bryan Steil, who chair or serve on key financial services committees, are among the recipients. On the Democratic side, Steven Horsford, Derek Tran, and Janelle Bynum will receive similar support. Horsford notably helped advance a bipartisan crypto tax bill.
Fairshake's strategy focuses on issues likely to sway voters, avoiding direct mentions of crypto in ads. The group's spokesperson, Geoff Vetter, highlighted their success in primary elections, where supported candidates won 53 out of 57 races. The move comes after the CLARITY Act, aimed at regulating the crypto market, failed to advance in the Senate last month.
The initiative underscores the crypto industry's continued investment in electoral influence to achieve legislative goals, aiming to build the largest pro-crypto congressional caucus in U.S. history.
