Crypto Group Fairshake Pours Millions Into Bipartisan House Races
A major cryptocurrency campaign group, Fairshake, has revealed a bipartisan list of House candidates it will back in the upcoming November midterms. The organization plans to support 19 Republicans and 13 Democrats, with six members receiving $1 million each in spending. All 32 lawmakers supported legislation that was a key priority for the crypto industry.
The group's latest move comes after a mixed legislative year in Congress, where key crypto legislation stalled. Fairshake's biggest general election investment so far was nearly $30 million against Democratic Senate candidate Sherrod Brown in Ohio, following Senate Democrats' blockage of the CLARITY Act, which aimed to establish a federal regulatory framework for digital assets.
Three Republicans and three Democrats will receive the highest level of support from Fairshake, including several facing competitive reelection races where the outside spending could significantly impact the outcome. The organization emphasized its bipartisan approach, highlighting its support for pro-crypto candidates in both parties.
Fairshake's spokesperson, Geoff Vetter, stated that the group has always been issue-focused, backing candidates who support American innovation in both parties. The organization reported about $120 million in cash on hand at the end of August but did not disclose further spending plans for House or Senate races before November.
