Crypto Group Fairshake Targets 32 House Races with Millions in Spending
A prominent cryptocurrency campaign group, Fairshake, has revealed a bipartisan list of House candidates it will support in the upcoming November midterms. The group plans to back 19 Republicans and 13 Democrats, with six members receiving $1 million each in campaign spending. All 32 lawmakers supported legislation critical to the crypto industry.
Fairshake's spending in House races is notable, but it pales in comparison to its earlier investment of nearly $30 million against Democratic Senate candidate Sherrod Brown in Ohio. Brown faced similar spending in 2024, when he lost to Republican Bernie Moreno. The crypto industry targeted Brown after Senate Democrats blocked the CLARITY Act, which aimed to establish a federal regulatory framework for digital assets.
Three Democrats and three Republicans will receive the highest level of support from Fairshake. On the Democratic side, Reps. Janelle Bynum of Oregon, Steven Horsford of Nevada, and Derek Tran of California will each get $1 million. On the Republican side, Reps. French Hill of Arkansas, Bryan Steil of Wisconsin, and Bill Huizenga of Michigan will receive the same amount. Fairshake did not disclose spending details for the remaining 26 candidates.
The group emphasizes its bipartisan approach, having spent $40 million on 29 Democrats and $31 million on 28 Republicans in primaries and special elections this year. Geoff Vetter, a Fairshake spokesperson, stated, 'Fairshake has always been and always will be an issue-focused organization. We back pro-crypto candidates who support American innovation in both parties.'
