Last year saw massive hiring in the crypto industry, with 27 firms bringing on 8,700 new employees. This trend continued into December, with big-name hires from traditional finance and tech.

Crypto exchanges like Kraken and Blockchain.com led the way, but there was also significant activity at venture capital firms like Lightspeed Venture Partners and investment companies like Sino Global Capital.

Notable hires included Brian Roberts, former CFO of Lyft, who joined NFT marketplace OpenSea as CFO. Marieke Flament replaced Erik Trautman as CEO of the Near Foundation, which focuses on the Near blockchain.

In other moves, social token platform Rally brought on Rob Collier, formerly Meta's head of consumer legal for its Novi project, as general counsel. Sandy Carter, a former vice president at AWS, joined Unstoppable Domains as senior vice president and channel chief.
