Crypto Lobbying Efforts on Clarity Act Fall Short Despite $13 Million Spend
The crypto industry's lobbying efforts to advance the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act in the US Senate have fallen short, despite spending over $13 million on federal lobbying in the first half of 2026. The sector focused its efforts on pushing for the Clarity Act, with Coinbase leading the spending among crypto companies.
About $8 million of that amount was directed towards advancing the Clarity Act, with roughly $2.4 million going to third-party lobbying firms and another $2.1 million supporting lobbyists employed by trade associations. The remainder funded internal lobbying operations at crypto companies.
Despite this significant investment, the industry failed to persuade the Senate to pass the legislation, leaving prospects for a renewed attempt in the lame duck session uncertain. However, the bill did reach a more advanced stage than earlier crypto legislation and created some bipartisan groundwork for future efforts.
