Crypto Market Braces for Inflation Data Releases Ahead of Fed Meeting
The crypto market is gearing up for a crucial week ahead of the Federal Reserve's September 15-16 policy meeting, with several key data releases and events that could impact prices. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics will publish the August Producer Price Index (PPI) data on Thursday, September 10, which is expected to show a 0.3% monthly increase in headline PPI versus 0.0% earlier.
On the same day, weekly initial jobless claims are due, with consensus estimates at 209,000, up from 205,000. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) for August will be released on Friday, September 11, with Wall Street estimates pegged at 3.4% year-over-year alongside a monthly increase of 0.4%. A hotter-than-expected inflation or another solid labor market report could lead to tighter money policy and higher Treasury yields, which would be negative for the crypto market.
Meanwhile, the US Treasury is gearing up for $14.5 billion in debt buybacks this week, which could positively impact the crypto market. The schedule includes a cash management buyback worth up to $12.5 billion on September 9 and a liquidity support buyback worth up to $2 billion on September 10.
